Get a FREE BOILER – Find Out How

By 19/05/2017November 20th, 2019Blog

Have you been putting off buying a new boiler because it’s out of your budget? The cost to replace a boiler can be anywhere between £2000 and £4000. If you’re struggling to heat your home, you’re not alone. The cost to replace a boiler is out of reach for many families in the UK.

But you don’t have to suffer through another cold winter. You may qualify for a FREE boiler through the Government’s ECO Scheme.

What is the Echo Scheme?

Qualifying homeowners and private tenants can have their old and inefficient boilers replaced absolutely free of charge or heavily subsidized under the ECO Scheme.

ECO stands for Energy Company Obligation. As part of the UK’s role in reducing its carbon footprint, the Big Six energy suppliers (EDF, British Gas, nPower, EON, SSE and Scottish Power) are obligated to cover the expenses of installing new boilers. Every month, your energy bill includes a small fee that contributes to the ECO program.

The ECO Scheme gives low-income households access to energy-efficient improvements that reduce their heating costs and reduce their carbon footprints.

To qualify, households must meet the benefits criteria and have a boiler that’s at least five years old.

If you meet the criteria, you could have a brand new boilder installed and new heating controls (if needed). Funding amounts are determined by how energy efficient your home is, so a trained technician will come out to perform an energy assessment for free.

Boiler grants are non-repayable. You never have to pay back any money for your boiler.

How Can I Get a Free Boiler?

Your household may qualify for a free or low-cost boiler if:

  • You meet the right income-related benefits criteria, including income support, tax credits, JSA or ESA.
  • You have an oil, gas or LPG boiler that’s at least five years old.

Some households qualify automatically, while others must also meet other requirements.

You May Automatically Qualify for a Boiler Grant If You Receive:

  • Child tax credits (household income of less than £16,010 per year)
  • Pension credit

You May Also Qualify for a Grant If You Receive:

  • Working tax credit
  • Income related employment and support allowance
  • Income support
  • Universal credit
  • Income based jobseeker’s allowance

To qualify with these benefits, you must also meet certain other requirements. See the full list of criteria here.

Save Money on Your Energy Bills with a FREE Boiler

Replacing your old, inefficient boiler with a new A-rated model could save you up to £300 per year on your energy bills.

That’s £300 more you could put into savings each year.
